About Abaqus
Brief History
in mid-2007, a few long-time technology
entrepreneurs noticed that
the "WHERE" trends, including geo-location & mapping, had begun
converging with everything that people were doing - from photography
and fitness to travel & business. Not only that, but these
trends were moving from the personal computer and web platforms to
increasingly popluar consumer devices, including phones, telematics sensors and cameras.
Geo-awareness of applications was emerging everywhere! However, the two
men also noticed that at that time geo-awareness was about things,
rather than invidividuals, and that was the impetus for founding Abaqus
Inc.
Abaq.us is focused on providing GeoWeb and
Semantic Web solutions for consumers and enterprise customers. The
company offers both a GeoWeb Services platform and myGeoDiary, a free
location-based social networking service for consumers. The platform
interfaces with a wide variety of devices such as phones & PNDs
and provides a SaaS based environment for rapid development and
deployment of location-centric application for mobile operators, online
brands, device manufacturers et al. myGeoDiary is a geo-tracking
& location-centric social-networking site which enables end
users to safely store their geo-information and use it across a growing
number of web applications.
Abaq.us team is comprised of executives from Philips Electronics, GE
Healthcare, Qualcomm and Novell with years of experience in the mobile
& software platform industries.
Team
The founding team is comprised of software, mobile and bio-informatics industry veterans with a track record of management positions at multinational companies and startups. Team members have worked together in various ventures over the last 15 years, including several successful technology ventures.
Shailendra Jain, CEO/Founder:
Mr. Jain was previously the CEO of Adamind, a company supplying multimedia technology solutions to the mobile markets worldwide. Mr. Jain spun out Adamind from Philips Electronics in 2004, successfully listed the company on AIM (London) and completed its sale in Q2 2007. Prior roles include at GM of a BU at Philips Electronics, VP at Wave Systems Corp., and Software Engineer/Architect at Novell (Serius Corp.) Scott McCarty, CTO:
Scott McCarty is a Senior Architect & Software Engineer with past experience including work on leading-edge document technology at WordPerfect, designing visual programming languages and researching Internet technologies as a member of the Advanced Development Group at Novell (acquired Serius Corp.).

Mobile & Web Development team: Team
based in Hyderabad & Kolkata, India provides Java, .NET and Mobile
development support. Team specializes in geospatial based web
and mobile solutions.
Sales & Busines Development: The Cellentx Team manages Sales & Business Development with focus on Enterprise Customers.

Michael van Thiel:
Mike has over 18 years of technology and management experience in a
variety of industries including the Automotive, Political, Mortgage
& Title and Healthcare markets. Mike currently holds the
position of Chief Technology Officer at Vehix, Inc (a Comcast company),
a multi-platform digital automotive network where he played a key role
in transforming and preparing the Vehix technology for the acquisition
by Comcast in early 2008. Before joining Vehix, Mike held the position
of CTO at Xi Corporation focussed on providing business intelligence
solutions to the political market. Prior to that he held the position
of Director of Development at Ingenix, Inc., a subsidiary of United
Health Group. Mike earned a Masters Degree in Computer Science as well
as a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Utah

Hirsohi Wald:
Hiroshi Wald is Managing Director of Austral Capital Partners, US.
Hiroshi also serves as Program Chair for the MIT/Stanford Venture Lab
which hosts the largest ongoing gathering of Silicon Valley
entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and thought leaders at monthly
events at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Prior to joining
Austral, he was most recently Principal at The Wald Group, a
consultancy focused on technology development, management strategy and
customer insights, analysis and intelligence. His diverse background
includes Managing Director at Competitive Insights, a business
intelligence firm focused on natural language processing of web
content; product development executive at Knowledge Networks where he
built and managed teams in India; CEO and Founder of a wireless
startup, Zingdata, which was acquired by Knowledge Networks; directing
market intelligence at Hill and Knowlton, one of the world's largest
public affairs and relations firms; selection as a Coro Fellow and
serving as Staff Assistant at the White House Office of
Intergovernmental Affairs.
Hiroshi is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles.
